Transparent meshes can suffer from pixelated artifacts in XPS. The picture below shows an example of the issue I refer to. You can see there is a dark transition on the side hair that happens abruptly. Dark pixels get mixed with bright pixels. I call this error pixelated artifacts.
You can inspect the the textures and the mesh and there is nothing obviously wrong with them. Everything looks fine, but at the same time something has to be wrong. Why does this happen, and what is causing it?
